“It's like in the great stories, Mr. Frodo. The ones that really mattered. Full of darkness and danger they were. And sometimes you didn't want to know the end… because how could the end be happy? How could the world go back to the way it was when so much bad had happened? But in the end, it’s only a passing thing… this shadow. Even darkness must pass.”

Research Into Similar Products: Macbeth 2015 posters

After recently finding the trailer of the new Macbeth 2015 film (click here to check out the post) and I decided to look at the posters; and they're so dramatic and effective!

Macbeth Posters:

This has given me so much inspiration especially when it comes to making my poster and magazine cover. What I love about the 'theatrical release' poster is that there's a composition of different elements of the story wrapped into one; in this case, everything is within Macbeth. Lady Macbeth takes prime place in his mind and the swirl of fire separating the thoughts of his wife from the war could relate to how he doesn't associate his wife's manipulation with the great danger it could cause. The fact Macbeth is played by Michael Fassbender alters the 'wimpy' stereotype we could get from Macbeth (since he's easily manipulated to do wrong). But instead we see a Macbeth who's strong, kingly but with heavy mental conflict; fueled by his wife's graphic, angry control over him.

Michael Fassbender is almost unrecognisable in this photo; with all the contrast of light and dark along with the war paint and grimace in his expression. I love this element of the Macbeth tragedy we see; a man who's ridden to do terrible things not out of his own conscience.

I love this poster of Lady Macbeth; these simple character posters of simple concept, but the drama and story is shown merely through the actor. In this case the beautiful white veil and pale colours she's wearing does obviously connote to 'purity' and that her conscience is clean. She gets her husband to do all the dark things she could imagine so she wouldn't feel guilty about it herself; yet in the end her 'clean' veil is removed to reveal a broken woman with much blood on her hands... 'Out damn'd spot!'

I also love the use of 'ALL HAIL' underneath the main title of MACBETH; it almost makes the audience's eye take a tour over the two titles, making them say 'Macbeth, all hail Macbeth, all hail Macbeth' over and over again (until they rip their sight from it!)

Much like the post I done on many other posters (both here and here) the first poster would count as one of the more complex posters... Whether I'd do a complex 'theatrical release' poster or a simple 'character/teaser' poster like the ones below, I'm currently unsure about... What I could imagine though is that Senara would take 'centre stage' in a poster; the 7 Deadly Sins could be incorporated into the poster, or maybe just her succubus elements. But I definitely want limited colours and a contrast between light and dark if it's a single character poster.
