“It's like in the great stories, Mr. Frodo. The ones that really mattered. Full of darkness and danger they were. And sometimes you didn't want to know the end… because how could the end be happy? How could the world go back to the way it was when so much bad had happened? But in the end, it’s only a passing thing… this shadow. Even darkness must pass.”

Organisation: Title Ideas and Change of Protagonist's Name

I am very proud of mysef that I managed to come up with a concept for my title ideas!!!
I done a little brain-storm with Felicity and here's what we've come up with:

At the moment I've settled on the title 'Marionette' since she's been controlled and toyed with by herself and others, and it also relates to how she's putting on a show and needs someone to help her break the strings of (borderline) addiction that she's tangled in. It also doesn't make the message of the story bias to online relationships either, but relationships, self-seeking and self-degrading on a whole.

So this change would directly link to the trailer, I thought to change the protagonist's name to either 'Marionette' or 'Marian'. I think that name suits the protagonist much better too. Also, since she outs on a ' show' in a sense, maybe her signature 'character' is the marionette doll. Maybe she was told she was like a doll from her ex-boyfriend but he connoted it to weakness and manipulation rather than beauty. Since she's like a broken doll too, its as if her innocence has been broken by both herself and others (mainly herself though). So Marionette has a lot going for it as a title and Felicity said it was a great idea! I'll do some more audience research for the title to make sure, but I really love this decision I've come to!

EDIT:
I've asked my sister her opinion on the title too. Here's what we've discussed...

Research Into Target Audience: Responses to 'Collection of clips' video

I've asked my friends to check out the video I edited together with the backing track of 'Hallelujah' and to comment on what they think of it! I always loved showing them my work, and the responses were so lovely and encouraging!

I'm going to totally keep going full speed ahead with my trailer, I've only a few more little things to shoot; the 'happy ending' and her actually turning on her laptop or phone, running from one room to a more private room, and stuff like that. I basically need to make the 'tech side' more obvious! But that filming is real simple to do :)

Organisation: Film footage collection of clips

It was so fun putting together this collection of clips. I hope the character's story comes across; I've still got a few more bits of filming to do, but I've definitely got enough footage for a trailer-worth of content! I also loved the song 'Hallelujah' by Jeff Buckley for a while. I know I can't use copyrighted songs, but it was good to use the dynamic of a slower and emotional song in correspondence to the clips! And it worked VERY well!

Organisation: Some more footage - Isolated walk footage

Here're some shots which I mentioned would lead up from the 'cat' or come before the 'cat' shots from the last blog post.

Frustrated Walk 1

Frustrated Walk 2

Frustrated Walk 3

Frustrated Walk Tracking Shot

Other Side Walking Track

Hands Close Up

Legs Walking Track

Gossiping Shots

I had a lot of fun doing this bit of filming, and I could imaging many straight cuts from of my walking going to each part of the body.
In terms of where it would be in the placement of the trailer, it would perhaps be near the middle-ish end, perhaps when she broke up with her boyfriend.

Organisation: Some film footage!

I done some filming today with my friends that I didn't expect to do, but tadaa. here it is!

Lights...

A Lovely little tracking shot...

A Very Cute Symbolic cat...

I thought this cat would be symbolic of the isolation and darkness Alice feels in her life. And other than that, it's there for pure scenery and cuteness purposes which may lead onto a part of the trailer which shows Alice walking on her own.... It was a happy little accident!

Organisation: Ancillary Products - Poster Ideas/Drafts and Research Into Target Audience (audience responses to ideas)

I've had this idea for the poster for a while now...
Since I was doing some filming today, when I was done, I just whacked on some eye-liner, drawing a crack on my chest (to represent a cracked doll) and got the lighting sorted and took these photos:

And here're the others...

I am very proud of all of them, I know the crack is rather 'fake' looking, but I could always Photoshop it to make the crack larger, with more highlights and realistic depth.
This poster is supposed to represent how Alice feels like she's been toyed with by both herself and others, and it was her own fault; she broke her own heart by hurting others as well as herself, though she still retains innocence, since she had good intent and is still loved by the guys she met.

Research Into Target Audience: Some more responses from footage!

I had the usual suspects, (Megan, Paige and Felicity) to take a look at my latest edited piece of footage, since they're the main three who've been the most intimate in the journey of my trailer, as well as being the sort of female audience I'd be aiming towards (15 and over).

And here's what they said...

I really appreciate their critique and support with my work and, I do understand there are darker parts of the footage in which it's hard to make certain things out, but I could either increase the exposure of he raw footage next time OR increase the screen brightness on my phone next time I show it to someone ;)
