“It's like in the great stories, Mr. Frodo. The ones that really mattered. Full of darkness and danger they were. And sometimes you didn't want to know the end… because how could the end be happy? How could the world go back to the way it was when so much bad had happened? But in the end, it’s only a passing thing… this shadow. Even darkness must pass.”

Research Into Target Audience: Focus Group Feedback

I've pitched my film to a focus group today. I don't know if I pitched it as well as I could've, but regardless of that, here's the information I've shown them...

Much of the critique included how the ideas are very 'up in the air' but the actual structure needs a lot of work. And I have loads of really good ideas but I need to stabilize and reduce them down somehow, especially if I want to make it into a teaser trailer.
Another point was that if it's a 15 age rating (which is what I want it to be) then I should include some 15 rating aspects into it (the sexually suggestive content could be included as 15 though... But I'm unsure with what other kind of 15 content I could get away with showing... I do have some fake blood though!)

I'm rather worried about the fate of this idea, to be honest. I feel, in my head, that it's going very flat and boring now and the once 'fresh' and 'exciting' idea I used to have is now dull and unusable.

A piece of critique that especially spoke to me was of making it more of a 'quirky, indie' film rather than a 'fantasy' film, and to make the female protagonist more of an 'outcast' of society rather than a mythical being (or at least, to not have it in the 'fantasy' context as I did originally plan). I very much agree with that. But I'm just wondering whether to abandon the idea completely or to keep going with it.

I was planning on doing some more filming next week... But I think I'll postpone the filming for now until I've got my ideas and enthusiasm back on track.
