“It's like in the great stories, Mr. Frodo. The ones that really mattered. Full of darkness and danger they were. And sometimes you didn't want to know the end… because how could the end be happy? How could the world go back to the way it was when so much bad had happened? But in the end, it’s only a passing thing… this shadow. Even darkness must pass.” - JRR Tolkien
I've asked 9 of my friends (in the age range of 16-20) about the plot of my trailer.
Two of the most notable responses were from my friends Angel and Millie. Who both collectively said:
Angel: Can't she use a condom? Millie: Am I reading 4 plot-lines at once? Both: Isn't she human now that she's in the human world????? So wouldn't she have a womb to bare a child? Angel: She should have sex with anyone she wants, forget this guy! Just kill him anyway and have fun! Both: FEMINISM. Millie: You're looking too much into it!
And all of a sudden I'm infuriated by them.
Pocket watch: Their response Hook: Me
But in my OWN defence, neither of them read the plot properly. So their opinion is only half taken into account.
I'll keep their silly questions in mind, all audience research is valuable (arguably).
Anyway, the REAL audience research was about which plot-line to base the story on:
Either:
She kills her husband but re-unites with him in the spirit world (she becomes a good spirit rather than a demon when SHE moves on because of the love she gained for him)
or
She cheats on him (because she needed to vent her succubus lust on someone but didnt want to risk HIS life!) but they get back together and both die making love eventually (gosh too much death everywhere!)
Here's specifically what each person said:
Those who like the first idea:
Those who like the second idea:
she also said "It's a twist between real life drama and fantasy!"
Those who like the new combined idea (only just researched this one so not many responded):
I think I'll settle on the first plot-line idea of Senara killing her lover/husband and he dies the night they make love; it's more tragic that way, and makes the journey of 'rebirth' she has greater impact and beauty, especially when she dies and returns to him in the next life. If I settle on the 'her husband/lover has an illness' thing, it could be too much like 'Fault in Our Stars' which would be annoying; except the fact Senara sped his death up and gets depressed from it. But I'll think a little further on that one. But I'm definitely settling on plot-line number one now! Maybe, since HE isnt the most morally clean person either, he was in bad trouble, or was gonna get killed by someone else, or even executed in some way. Or is in trouble in some way and is running from punishment. He has Senara instead set him 'free' by killing him. But that seems so much colder and more of a business thing. Or, maybe she just thought she was human, now she's in the human world, but found out her succubus deadliness still applies and he never knew... Its a tricky one really. I still need to think on it. But I do want to follow this story path.
Like I said a few posts ago, I've been obsessed with the 2003 Peter Pan film these days, and it made me think on Captain Hook. Being the soppy romantic I am, (and since Peter Pan, in elements is a soppy, gorgeous romance) I thought on what the past of Captain Hook could've been. I'm sure many have already wrote on this idea, but I've been thinking personally on what could've happened.
Since in the film, we see him as 'the villain' and usually, I favour the villains in these sorts of stories; since they're judged a lot and have so much to them which is never delved into enough--and are usually the most human and relatable characters.
Captain Hook says to Peter near the end 'You will die alone and unloved... just like me' this makes me wonder if he ever fell in love in his past, or had some great romance story in his life which ended badly (perhaps because of Peter, or someone like Peter) and so he's become brooding, embittered and scheming. I know it's cliche the term 'well... there was a woman' but I love that cliche...
So I'm thinking, maybe you initially see Senara as a broken, antagonistic character in the story; or you judge her one way (maybe she hides her brooding ways, and is flirty and scheming instead) until you realise that she had a MASSIVE love story which was beautiful and made her feel human, but it ended tragically (the most tragic thing is maybe SHE killed HIM out of doing the most natural thing for a loving couple to do... yet, audiences may think 'well you knew succubi kills/harms when THEY have sex with men, why one earth would you take that stupid risk?!' but I'll find a reason for that... She acted on her feelings; a very 'human' thing.)
But regardless of this, here's Senara's 'biography' anyway...
A Succubus from the demon world, Senara was used to the hateful, abusive, lustful ways of her kind, and obviously done it herself. Perhaps one day, a human she met while doing a dirty deed, intrigued her. Since then she secretly analysed the ways of the human world; watching loving couples LOVE each other; desperate for it herself (yet not desperate enough to settle for any old guy, since she knew well enough there's a difference between sex, desperation and this strange 'love' thing humans get).
Those of her kind notice her acting more consciously, and less maliciously, giving in less and less, especially when the Incubi (male equivalent to Succubi) come onto her; she'd be a bit hesitant, and think more about her actions rather than the usual 'Succumb to the instinct' rule. So they banished her from the demon world; before she influences the other demons and to show her the pain that love can give her. They sent her to the human world as the immortal being she is. She can still control her appearance to look human, yet when she succumbs to her instinct her dark form will show gradually. By being immortal, she'll fall in love, and many men would fall for HER many, many, many times, and so she'll out-live them (and risk killing them if she has sex with any of them) and experience the pain of guilt and grief that comes with love and human emotion.
She doesn't care, determined to 'even feel pain rather than feel nothing at all'. She enters the human world feeling an outcast, but after trying her best to fit in, after gaining friends, bonds, relationships that were 'lessons' rather than anything real (while being careful and expressing her unique opinions on life when asked to) she soon finds 'the one'. I think he'd have had a bad past too, so in this way he couldn't judge her on her past actions when he eventually finds out she's a Succubi (so maybe he's a Captain Hook; complex lonely type; yet not in an annoying way. In a way in which they save and complete each other) they get to know each other, and fall in love and stay together for years upon years, despite the trials they face. He soon finds out she's a succubi which challenges the relationship, but his love for her is too strong to care about what she truly is--since he's not perfect himself. But she feared the relationship going any further, since she'd want to have sex with him and have a family of her own; and she saw the risks of it all. But she gained the attitude to just LIVE the best she could, and dont live regretting. So took the chance when he proposed.
They do get married, and they try to find a way she could stop the fact that she's a 'killing' machine when having sex by looking to science, myth and anything they could think on. Maybe he was going to die soon anyway or maybe he wanted her to, or maybe they just took a chance, but either way, they make love but he becomes ill (and soon dies). Either that, or he dies another way (but it's most tragic if its by her own hands). Out of grief, she spends her life succumbing to her succubi ways, experiencing the guilt of having a conscience and 'playing' other guys (like the idea of the Romeo and Cinderella song, at one point the guy thought he was manipulating HER but it was actually the other way around...) But she's conflicted, and can't find a way out. This wrong doing and potential murder she's doing has to end. I was wondering, since she's linked to the demon world, she's also linked to the spirit world; so perhaps she found a way to see her husband again.
OR
she marries her husband, but so desperate to make love somehow, but fearing killing him, she makes love with someone else to test whether she'd risk life or not. But maybe the dude she has sex with does die, maybe he just gets ill, maybe he doesn't get harmed at all (by some miraculous change) but either way, she cheated on him, and they have a MASSIVE argument and they separate; both brooding more than ever.
And she succumbs to the 7 Deadly Sins (for example, wrath would want her to kill/harm out of anger but her new sense of virtue tries to stop herself from acting on these dark desires. This happens in either plot version.) Maybe, like Hook's relationship with Peter Pan, she gains an enemy and vents all her anger on him/her. She becomes envious of what this other person has, etc and tries to ruin their life. But her conscience does kick in eventually, and gets her comeuppance in some way (she does die in the end whichever plot line we travel on). Maybe as time passes (depending on how much time passes) she begins to age, to show she's becomming more and more human/mortal.
But if her husband survives, they both find a way to return to each other, and save each other again.
If it's HIM she has sex with and kills by accident, then maybe he meets her in spirit form. And in what way does he 'save' her?
Maybe if her husband is still alive (the cheating on him plot-line) then maybe they either find a way they could make love without harming him, or maybe they finally make love and both die in the process. (or, if she's human enough by this point, maybe she could have sex and not kill him but instead they have a child and live happily again? But maybe that'd add more to the complexity and make it unrealistic and less tragic...)
If he's in spirit form, she maybe returns to him in the spirit world, as a 'good' spirit rather than demonic one, because of the love she had for him saving her. Either way, he 'saves' her, by reminding her what love is again, and what it is to be human and why she entered reality in the first place.
So that's, potentially, her life... But how did we find out the story?
Between her getting saved by her husband again (whether he's dead or alive), maybe when she was in her LOWEST moment, someone found her and asked her how she got to where she was... Maybe someone wise or religious or especially forgiving and open-minded who helps her.
And there we are... Senara's story! But in the actual trailer (and narrative) you'll be looking at the lives of her AND the husband (especially if he stays alive) as well as elements of other characters she meets.
There still may be changes, but this is the best development of it so far!
NEW PLOT TWIST (just to consider): Unite both ideas, she'll cheat on him, yes, because she recklessly wanted to vent her sexual nature on someone but didnt want to risk the life of her husband. BUT they separate and both get extremely low. They get back together, him agreeing that he wants to fulfill what a normal married couple would do and grieving from having made him ill and killing him, she lives the rest of her life hiding her brooding self with a scheming, flirtatious persona, wanting to ruin the life of another major character (the Peter Pan equivalent character) but she ends up being killed by them, but re-unites with her husband.
By loosely following a very easy tutorial by Klaire de Lys (I'm sure you've guessed by now) I crafted a pair of horns for the Succubi 'Senara'.
What I used:
An Alice headband
Multiple sheets of paper (about 3-4 sheets for each horn)
Two sheets of tin foil
Pair of sharp scissors
Hot glue gun
Acrylic Paint (black, gold, brown and red)
Step 1:
First, you twist up about 4 sheets of paper over each other into a cone shape, and then twist the tin foil over each cone, twisting it into the desired horn shape. Do the same for the second horn (try and twist it the opposite direction; this part was a pain to be honest to get the shape right)
Step 2:
Once twisted and cut into the right length (I said 'sharp' scissors since they'll have to be to cut through multiple twists and layers of paper and foil) you get your alice band, make on it where you want the horns positioned, and get the hot glue gun out!
BEWARE: IT'S VERY VERY EASY TO BURN YOURSELF! So be careful!
Glue down the horns and drag the glue swirling around each horn too to make it more interesting and stable.
Step 3:
Now, once the glue's dried and cooled, it's just time to paint the horns whatever way you want. Since Senara's a dark succubi, the horns will be black with some gold details and brown dabbed on so it has more earthy tones and some red.
Here's how they turned out!
I'll have to find a better way to use my hair to cover the alice band (perhaps I'll curl my hair and pin some more parts over it), but when the rest of the succubi make-up and 'accessories' are on, it'll really come together! I think for a first time, they look pretty good. I'm sure they're good enough to use for the trailer, and I am pretty proud of them.
The 2003 movie of Peter Pan has become my new movie obsession since following the work of actor Jason Isaacs the past month; he plays Mr Darling and Captain Hook in the film (he also played Lucius Malfoy from the Harry Potter franchise). I used to not like this movie at all when it first came out (I used to be quite a cynic if you'd believe it and didn't like the repetitive 'I do believe in fairies, I do, I do.' But now its one of my favourite scenes. But I always remembered Captain Hook most of all...) however, when you watch something from your childhood, you often get a new perspective of it. And since I've grown up a little bit, I'm now obsessed with it. I watched it about 5 times the past few weeks (and I'm actually watching it as we speak!); it's such a beautiful film.
So I took the liberty of checking out a few of the posters; and like the story, acting and music, they're gorgeous:
This is the main poster out of the collection that I love. Everything about it almost 'swims' to the centre with the quote 'The timeless story as you've never seen it before'. The use of lighting, blocking, colour, size and everything is just exquisite to me. This is certainly the sort of 'gathering of characters' sort of poster I'd take inspiration from.
Despite the grammar mistake on this poster ('Let the fight begins') I love the central hook entangled with Peter's sword. This poster very much focuses on the battle between Hook and Peter, but I mainly love the general layout again of the characters and even the beautiful light beaming from the centre.
This is such an interesting poster, with almost a samurai feel to it; subtle in colour but powerful in shape, blocking, setting and lighting. I love the simplicity of the concept; just Peter and the Jolly-Rodger, with the slightest glimpse of the skull on the sail. It could suggest that death is ahead of Peter (but obviously Hook's the one who dies in the end, unfortunately... Spoiler)
This is such a beautiful and artistic poster; but with less of photography and more of Photoshop and digital art I'd presume. But there's loads of use of framing to draw attention to what's important; such as the ivory and flower framing around the moon and Peter Pan. The use of colours are beautiful; full of contrasts of light and dark, blues and oranges.
I love the limited scenery in this poster; concentrating on Peter, then Wendy, then Tinkerbell, and finally you see Hook, lingering in the shadows with his ship, the Jolly-Rodger (not looking so jolly). If I want to show significance of relationship and perhaps blocking, this would be a great source of inspiration too!
I'm always partial to posters which show individual characters and significant quotes they have.
But the quotes they use on the posters aren't the MOST significant; if anything they show more about the drive of the narrative rather than the core of the characters. For example, a quote to better fit Hook's CHARACTER would be 'You will die alone and unloved... Just like me'
I've loved this song for years now, but I never took notice of it in correlation to my trailer before until I listened to it again a few nights ago; keeping in mind the story and lyrics etc. And since I have, I've decided to research more into it...
The song is called 'Romeo and Cinderella' from a Japanese voice synthesizer called Vocaloid (which is now a full commercial project with many characters created behind the voices and songs made). But this is the English dubbed version of 'Romeo and Cinderella' WHICH I JUST ADORE (it's a rather suggestive song, but I don't care; I love that about it.)
Romeo and Cinderella English Dub:
Originally the song was done in the female perspective. Initially it's about a girl who wants to find her Prince Charming and have a passionate relationship with him. She finds Romeo. She doesn't want to be like Juliet since her romance ends in death, so she thinks if she acts more like Cinderella she'd get a happy ending with Romeo-while playing 'hard to get' a little bit. But she fears that keeping the relationship within the 'Cinderella' 'running away' mode with the sex whenever they meet would soon have him get bored of her, so thinks her happiness is in the 'box' of some significance (maybe of a wedding ring - long term relationship rather than a fun little affair). Maybe she feels caged by it all and feels it'll only end badly for her if it doesn't pacify or end in some way/stay true to herself.
Yet there's an underlining suspicious/mischievous facet to this girl, Since she said 'I'll be a good girl from now on', 'Oh won't you fulfill my fantasies' and especially with the 'bridge' of the song, she says what her heart truly wants is to fulfill her lust. We wonder whether she actually LOVES him or is playing a game (though she does say 'Oh I just want to be loved, so no more playing games' so she does seem genuine too... the 'heart' is so complicated)
At least that's what I interpret from it after reading a lot into it. There is a lot you could get out of this song which relates to Senara's character.
Oh! Maybe at first it was all fun, then she realised how all she wanted was the lust, and she fears it'll get boring soon for the both of them, and fears the emotional manipulation she's doing to him. She realises that there's no 'meaning' in this relationship and she'll only get caught if she keeps lying to herself, so now seeks to build meaning before it's too late. But that's just another interpretation...
Original Version's lyrics:
Please don't let our love turn out into a tragedy like it was for Juliet, take me away into your arms.
-It's all I ask of you-
-Verse 1- I say goodnight to both my father and my mother, I hope they'll be able to dream of one another, I think it's time for all the grown-ups to go to bed.
Enchanting caramel that carries sweet illusions,
My crossing legs that bring on sexual confusion,
How farther will I let you go on this sinful night? Screams of pain to "Take it easy", "Won't you bite me gently?" "Don't you dare forget that I'm not ready quite yet."
It's because of my mom that I've been acting sweetly and nice to you.
All the things that I don't know,
How they enchant me so,
but isn't that normal or at least how it should go.
Show me all your feelings
(And) I'll let you in my heart
Oh, if only you knew this from the start.
-Chorus- I feel so in love just like
CINDERELLA
And I will chase after you wearing only my
GLASS SHOES
I pray to God for time to come to a halt
Before the evil can come leaving us both in fault.
Now, I have to escape
just like JULIET did
But please don't call me by that name
We aren't the same
It's not okay,
Please I just want you to stay
Because without you here what is there for me to do?
So if I cried would you always be right here
By my side?
-Verse 2-
I try so hard to look like I'm older than my age
I wear mascara to conceal the fact I'm in rage
I promise you,
I'll be a good girl from now on.
There's no one here to stop me from the things that I do.
I want some love so
Why don't you come please me you fool.
How farther will we be able to cross the line?
Now I know that this is true
I fell in love with you
The pain is killing me
As I am screaming my pleas
I think you know by now
that my father doesn't seem to like you much.
I can see your hands reach out
as I begin to pout
And now I see it clear
You really love me my dear,
Take me far away so
we can MAKE LOVE
ROMEO
Oh, won't you fulfill my fantasies?
-Chorus-
So I'll just run away like
CINDERELLA
I'll scream my love for you, while leaving you
MY GLASS SHOE
I'll pray to God that you'll come searching for me
Save me from all my dreams
While I run away and flee
Well, I'm sure that Cinderella was lying herself
It's not an accident she left her shoe on purpose
I understand that she and I are the same
Oh, I just want to be loved, so no more playing games
So, just look for me and then you'll soon find what you seek.
-instrumental-
-Bridge-
Why don't you just take a look and see what
I have hidden in the corners of my heart?
Can you see that it's filled with all of my dirty thoughts
and all my needs and my wants
I want you to fill me up until I burst out forth and give into my desires
I'm drawn into ECSTASY
Oh, how I feel so free
Please tell me what it could be
But if I lose you I wouldn't know what to do!
My happiness seems to be stored in
a BOX
I need to find
the KEY
So I could open the lock
I'm scared in pain, but I won't cry out in vain.
The thought of you hating me, I know it couldn't be
Well my mom and my daddy don't care about me
They aren't different yet
They are the same as can be
I'll stop my lies and I'll be true to myself,
I'll just stick to the facts,
I dropped my golden axe.
So, if I keep lying too much like
CINDERELLA
I know I'll meet the fate that she alone had to face
I'm really SCARED and have no clue what to do,
But, I hope I don't end up just like her too
So, before that happens
won't you come and RESCUE me?
But a fan made the 'Romeo' perspective on this relationship (Song in Japanese):
I think the 'Romeo' is split between his Prince Charming side and his lustful, aggressive 'Wolf' side which are both mentioned in the translation.
Here's the direct translation of the male version. It really does give a different edge to the story:
Don’t let my romance become like Juliet’s tragedy
Take me out of here
– Then, shall we be off? –
-Verse 1-
Have you said farewell to Papa and Mama?
Because we’re about to begin an eternal journey.
It’s high time for adults to begin their dreams,
and to dive deep down into them.
I’ll take you to someone’s place,
Tonight, how far will we go?
Your expression as you enjoy
nibbling on that fruit, it’s attractive.
Wave good-bye to those hackneyed tales.
Naïvely smiling, you knew nothing,
Knowing nothing, yet wanting to know everything.
So now, show me every part of you,
Until we surpass even our dreams…
-Chorus-
You who’s forever yearned for, Cinderella:
How do you like black apples?
If we don’t turn over this page,
Our time will forever stand still.
You who desires freedom, Juliet:
But you don’t like that name, do you?
Yes, it doesn’t work if we’re not binded,
Yet if we are, it won’t be as fun.
Now, are you able to pleasure me?
-Verse 2-
This expanse that’s thick with heat and heavy thoughts;
my distant prayer is
Still too far away to reach that child.
Be careful of that spindle before you,
You might fade away like sea foam.
Could I cry out and be able to reach you?
The dwarves are beckoning over,
you can’t escape from Wonderland.
Who is calling out?
The blank white pages start to turn.
Repeatedly born, only to eventually disappear;
Even so, we’ll still reach out our hands,
For this episode, a princess and prince,
one of us is already enough, right?
-Chorus-
When the clock chimes, Cinderella,
Be sure to drop your glass shoe before you run.
Otherwise, I won’t be able to find you,
And black nightmares will start haunting you.
The girl travelling in the picture book,
Even now, are you still waiting over there?
Things such as love, dreams or even hope;
Tempted to just throw them all away
I’m coming for you now -Instrumental-
-Bridge-
May I take a peek into your heart?
May I pray to own you to tips of your hair?
These last pages are silently falling apart;
There’s no longer a place for me here, is there?
From now on, only the readers (you) will know
You chose the little box over the big box, such a pathetic
story.
Hey hey, wait a moment –
If I’m Romeo, this ends as a tragedy.
You can be greedy and wish for more, it’s okay,
Because that’s what a “princess” is like.
You saying “I don’t like reality (here)” was a lie,
so this wolf will come to devour you.
Of course it’s hard to leave your prince,
so why don’t you just leave it all to the other you?
See? The glass shoe fits you perfectly,
Then we can end with a happily ever after.
I’ve come to get you.
But here, looking at the lyrics, the male perspective either shows a manipulative man using the innocent girl, or that he THINKS he's manipulating her, but realises SHE was playing the games, having the upper hand all along. And regardless of the fact their 'fairy tales' don't fit together, he doesn't want to let her go.
And maybe she wanted him to die as Romeo does, since he'd die for her love, which she'd see as an ego boost in a way.
And if that was the case, that relates a lot to what Senara would've done when she was a succubus; she'd have had sex with men but they'd die/get ill in the process - I feel this interpretation of the male version could be a play on that idea. Senara may've saw it that they died for her 'love'. But now, seeing the error of her ways, she wants actual love and relationship, like the girl in the original Romeo and Cinderella song.
This exploration has been very fascinating and really opened horizons for my trailer (and made me love this song more!) :)
Quote Ideas For My Trailer (I could write hundreds, but here's a few):
"Male lead: [whispers] Just do what feels natural... Senara: [giggles] Oh. You don't want me to do that."
[If I have him say 'Do what feels natural FOR YOU' then I'm directly involving the audience. If I just leave it at 'Do what feels natural' then it could be aimed at anyone. It depends on the message I want to convey.]
"Senara: I can't handle the weight of humanity anymore! Male lead: It's not the weight of humanity (that you have to handle); it's the weight of yourself."
[could be a message for anyone struggling with life; it's just you you have to deal with, not the world.]
"[chuckles] Oh, c'mon, don't stop the fun now! I'm just getting started (on you)."
[It's so fun exploring Senara's flirtatious side. I'll want to use plenty of flirty quotes, but many inspiring ones to show her journey.]
"Character: You don't have a problem with getting a man. Look at you, how many have you had now? THIRTY-FIVE?! Senara: Ohh trust me honey.... if it were just thirty-five, my life would be so much easier.... "
OR
"Character: You have no problem with getting love. How many have you had now? THIRTY-FIVE?! Senara: Thirty-five men but not 'The One'."
OR
"Character: You have no problem with getting love. I mean, look at you! Senara: I do. But I see no beauty... Just shame."/ "Senara: I do. But I see more beauty in you and more darkness within me."
[These series of quotes not only reveals her doings, but also her attitude towards the themes of 'beauty', 'relationships' and her own doings]
"Male character: She both saved and ruined my life at the same time...
Other: Women have a way of doing that, my friend."
[I think there needs to be a few quotes from secondary characters without Senara's intervention]
"Male character: I was supposed to be the one playing her... But she had the upper-hand all along."
[It's fun to think she's all 'Muhahaha! I'm the smart one!' yet it does go sadly for her I think if I use this quote. It depends on which man it is though saying it. I'd guess she had many men by this point] "Senara: There has to be more to this... 'sex' thing... Surely it ought to be life giving, not life taking."
[When she realises the darkness in her Succubi ways] "Senara: Aha! I AM becoming human! I'm finally torn... between vice and virtue... but when will it stop?" "Senara: For without experiencing vice, you cannot appreciate virtue."
"No one should judge what you do or do not do... For we all know the temptation of sin. And I know that, bright, inside your heart, you're a beautiful person; capable of so much good." "Please, help me get back up again."
Appearance: Since succubi are the epitome of seduction, she has an 'other-worldly' sort of beauty. But with blue eyes to suggest innocence and purity; though she's the complete opposite in terms of her demonic background. She has 3 forms. The one she tries to sustain is her 'Human' form, when she has nothing 'demonic' about her appearance, and just looks like a very beautiful woman. Yet, since she was banished from her dark world, she was punished with keeping the deformity of either her 'elf' ears or demonic horns; the ears are more subtle though.
She has her 'Demi-Dark' form, when she begins to grow into her dark 'Aggressive' form. She grows her tail and talons.
But her 'Aggressive' form is when she's completely Succubus, equipped to kill, with a gruesome mouth and piercing eyes, horns, talons, tail and even wings. (obviously, only so much can make it's appearance in the trailer unfortunately.) In terms of clothing, she wears a variety depending on her mood and stability. She doesn't have a distinct 'style' if anything, she's varied and unique of many characters. Most depictions of succubi have them in extremely risque clothes, but obviously I have to tone down these fantasy ideals, and since she wants to be human, she wouldn't want to dress inappropriately in public.
Personality/Past: She used to be malicious and greedy and selfish in every way possible, only caring for her own requirements and cravings. Though she had a job to do in her demonic society, she did actually enjoy it; whatever the evil, self-centered, hurtful enjoyment is. But, as if she woke up from a dream, and after watching the pain it caused others, as well as herself, she started to question her nature. She admired the love humans are capable of, and wanted it more than anything. Though she learns how to be loving, generous, witty and optimistic, her dark side would frequently challenge her - causing a great amount of mental conflict. In this way she's a very fragile character, yet wise and ambitious with different sorts of strength.
Impact on story:
Obviously she's the main character, but sometimes I wonder if a different character should be followed by the audience instead who meets her and she impacts on HIS life. Then we switch between being an observer of Senara, to understanding whats going on in her mind.
Either that or we follow her all the way. But I always love having a sense of mystery behind her. Or a sense of 'journey' at least.
